Block printing is one of the oldest textile techniques in the world, originating in India over 2,000 years ago. Artisans hand-carve intricate designs into solid wooden blocks. Each design requires multiple blocks, one for each color, outline, border element, and detail in the pattern. Each block is soaked in oil before use to condition the wood and ensure clean ink transfer. During printing, the block is pressed into dye and stamped onto 100% cotton fabric by hand, one color at a time. Between each color layer, the fabric is washed and then sun-dried in the open air before the next block is applied. The result is a textile that cannot be replicated by a machine: rich in texture, slightly varied in registration, and genuinely one of a kind.

They are genuinely hand printed. Every single one. Each tablecloth is made by artisans in India using hand-carved wooden blocks and a process that has not fundamentally changed in centuries. There are no screens, no rollers, no digital printing. The blocks are carved by hand, soaked in oil, loaded with dye by hand, and pressed onto the fabric one color at a time. Because human hands do the work, no two tablecloths are ever identical. The slight variation where block repeats meet is the proof. It is considered a mark of authenticity, not a defect.

Color development alone can take months: our dye specialist samples each shade repeatedly until it matches the original design exactly. Once printing begins, the fabric must be washed and sun-dried in open air between each color layer before the next block is applied. All Bloomezzo tablecloths and napkins are hand printed by artisans in Jaipur, India, one of the most respected centres of block print textile craftsmanship in the world. Jaipur has a centuries-long tradition of hand block printing, and the artisans who make Bloomezzo products carry that tradition into each piece. The designs are created in Canada by our founder.

Yes. All Bloomezzo designs are original creations, developed specifically for this collection and hand-carved into wooden blocks owned by Bloomezzo. These designs are not available from any other retailer.

All Bloomezzo hand block printed tablecloths and napkins can be machine washed in cold water. Tumble dry low or line dry. Do not bleach. Wash separately for the first wash.

Wash separately for the first wash. A small amount of residual dye may release. This is completely normal and does not affect the finished color of your tablecloth.

Block print tablecloths look beautiful with their natural texture and do not need to be pressed flat. If you prefer a crisper look, iron on the reverse side on low heat. Do not iron directly on the printed surface.

Store loosely folded or rolled in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Rolling prevents permanent crease lines. Avoid plastic bags. A linen or cotton storage bag is ideal.

If you are not satisfied with your order, contact us within 30 days of delivery at info@bloomezzo.com. Items must be unwashed, unused, and in their original condition to qualify for a return. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Sale items are final sale and not eligible for return. Natural variation in print placement, color depth, and block registration are inherent to the hand block print process and are not considered defects or grounds for return.

Once your return arrives, please allow 3 to 5 business days for processing. Refunds to your original payment method may take additional time depending on your financial institution.

Most block print tablecloths on Amazon or Etsy are either machine-printed with a block print aesthetic, or produced from generic patterns with little original design involvement. Bloomezzo designs are developed from scratch, hand-carved into custom wooden blocks, and printed using a genuine multi-step hand block process in India. We work directly with our artisans, giving us control over every step from the carving of the blocks to the finished piece. The cotton we use is chosen for its quality and suitability for block printing: it takes dye evenly, holds color well, and softens beautifully with use. The difference shows in the sharpness of the color layering, the complexity of the designs, and the quality of the finished piece.
